We are offering a large Hupa/Yurok Indian circa 1900 tightly woven pedestal basket, handmade using willow, bear grass and maiden fern. Bold repeat geometric motif. Colors are strong and without fade. 8″ tall x 9″ top diameter x 7 bottom diameter. Fairly round, no visual loss, breaks or damage. There are two areas of staining and discoloration, one approximately 4 1/4″ x 1″, the other approximately 3″ x 1/4″, to the interior. Neither are visible on the outside. Origin is from the Hupa valley of northern California. Fresh out of a collector’s estate and offered here for the first time.
