This puppet is a Vintage Very Rare large Pelham Pinocchio Display Puppet. This puppet was created Display range Pelham Puppet of Pinocchio created by the Pelham a a display item for shop windows. The shops would then sell smaller puppets to their customers. He is fully strung on control bar. This is a vintage puppet, he is in fulll working good order, however due to the age of the puppet his costume is very worn, but are the original pieces. There is no box. We are retired puppeteers and Pinocchio has been in our museum collection traveling around the country for the past 20 years. But now needs a new home. Pelham Puppets were first made in the United Kingdom from 1947 onwards under the title Wonky Toys Ltd the company changed its name in 1948 to the now better known Pelham Puppet brand. Mainly known for making Pelham marionettes the company also manufactured glove puppets, rod puppets and ventriloquist puppets. The name’Pelham’ is taken from the creator Bob Pelham who was the founder of the company and continued to head the company until his death in 1980 assisted by his wife Ann Pelham who continued with the business until 1986.
