Vintage Handwoven Wool Large Red Navy Shirazi Area Rug. For your consideration is a vibrant red and brown area rug. This large area rug with three large central rhombi and arrow design over a red ground is decorated with rosettes, birds, plants and a triple border. The thread is dyed in bright red with a hint of magenta, washed brown as well as black with navy reflexions and a pinch of fleshy beige and neon orange. The carpet would work perfectly in one’s dining room, bedroom as well as living area. Origin: handmade, most likely during the 1940s in the Arab Peninsula. Condition: the rug has a superb patina from previous years of use. There are small faded areas as well as differences in tonalities due to its age. Present are also a few small but prevalent (2-3 cm diameter) areas where the fuzzy part of the thread is missing generically called’bald spots’, exposing the knotted base.
